Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Wilner Samson, who serves patients in Hartford, Connecticut. 

A fellowship-trained nephrologist, Dr. Samson is the Senior Medical Director for Primary Care Transformation at Hartford HealthCare Medical Group.

As such, he works with ICP to transform and improve more than 80 practices for future state, including preparing for downside risk, piloting new care delivery model, enhancing and standardizing the role of virtual medicine, working with the hospital service to improve transition of care capture rate, supporting effort to achieve balance score card, MSSP and ACO clinical metrics.

Graduating with his undergraduate degree in Economics from Vassar College in 1990, Dr. Samson went on to attend medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. After earning his medical degree in 1997, he went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in 2000, and his fellowship in nephrology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in 2003.

Furthering his education, he graduated with his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2020.

Board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut, Dr. Samson is affiliated with medical facilities such as Midstate Medical Center, The Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General Campus, and UConn John Dempsey Hospital.
