Kathleen L. Behr, MD is a board-certified dermatologic surgeon. She specializes in dermatologic surgery including Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatology and laser therapy.
Dr. Behr has an extensive education. She obtained her medical degree and completed a residency in dermatology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In her last year of residency she was named Chief Resident. The mission of the Dermatology Residency Program is to train physicians to be outstanding dermatology clinicians, educators, researchers and leaders.
Dr. Behr gained a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic surgery at UCLA. Mohs surgery, developed in 1938 by general surgeon, Frederic E. Mohs, is microscopically controlled surgery used to treat common types of skin cancer. During the surgery, after each removal of tissue and while the patient waits, the tissue is examined for cancer cells.
Dr. Behr was an assistant clinical professor at UCLA until 2001 when she moved to Fresno and founded the Behr Laser & Skin Care Center. The staff consists of two physicians, two licensed nurse practitioners, physicians’ assistant, four registered nurses and four aestheticians who are certified to perform multiple procedures. The team provide efficient and individualized service and stays ahead of the latest in advances by regularly attending continuing education programs. The clinic provides treatments for all types of skin cancer with the utmost care and support. They also offer a variety of laser services that work together to prevent and correct skin damage through continued daily usage.
Dr. Behr has the following board-certifications: The American Academy of Dermatology; American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology; American Society for Dermatologic Surgery; and Women’s Dermatologic Society.
The recipient of numerous honors and accolades, Dr. Behr was the recipient of the ‘Victor Newcomer’ award for teaching while at UCLA. She was voted best dermatologist by her peers in Fresno Magazine as well as Top 3 Dermatologists in Fresno in 2015. Dr. Behr was selected Top Aesthetic Provider by CVLUX Magazine in 2016. She achieved the Top 25 status with Allergan in 2017 and has also been recognized as one of New Beauty magazine Top Beauty Doctors in 2015-2017.
Dr. Behr is a published author and lecturer. Her work includes: Flash lamp pumped dye laser for rosacea-associated telangiectasia and erythema; ATX-101 (Deoxycholic Acid Injection) Treatment in Men: Insights From Our Clinical Experience; Flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser treatment of port-wine stains; Flash lamp-pumped dye laser treatment of telangiectasia.
