Get to know Pain Management Specialist Dr. Daniel L. Bruning, who serves patients in Overland Park, Kansas.

With well over three decades of experience in his field, Dr. Bruning is an expert in pain management services. He works alongside Dr. Eubanks at PainCARE in Overland Park, Kansas, providing comprehensive evaluations and detailed explanations to all of his patients in pain about their treatment options. 

The doctor duo began working at Shawnee Mission Medical Center as operative anesthesiologists, obstetric pain specialists, and interventional pain management specialists.  They realized that the field of pain management required full-time attention to keep up on the latest innovations and to be highly skilled in procedures. In 2002, they decided to provide specialized care to patients in chronic pain in an affordable, relaxed atmosphere and opened PainCARE.

“We help our patients reduce or eliminate pain while helping to increase their daily activities and mobility. We focus not only on minimizing pain but also on finding its source. Our goal is to relieve pain caused by injury or neurological disorders by utilizing interventional pain management techniques; not oral pain medications.” as stated on their website. 

When other physicians have a pain condition or questions about pain treatments, Dr. Bruning is the doctor they usually call for treatment or advice. He is a pioneer in the fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided treatment of joints, nerves, tendons, and muscles. He treats neck, back, hip, shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle pain. He has performed over 30,000 epidural injections, offers sedation to patients, as well as performs platelet-rich plasma therapies.

A 1982 graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Bruning went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

The doctor is a triple board-certified through the American Board of Anesthesiology, whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology; as well as through the American Board of Pain Medicine, whose mission is to improve the quality of pain medicine.

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the Academy of Integrative Pain Management, the American Academy of Orthopedic Medicine, the American Association of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Board of Physicians and Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Interventional Orthopedics Foundation, the Kansas Medical Society, the Kansas Society of Anesthesiologists, the World Academy of Pain Medicine Ultrasonography, and the World Institute of Pain.

Pain management is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. A pain management specialist is a doctor who specializes in pain medicine, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain.
