Get to know Dr. James W. Melisi, MD, a neurologist serving Mechanicsville, Virginia. 

Dr. James W. Melisi is a neurologist serving Mechanicsville and the surrounding communities at Neurosurgical Associates, PC. 

Neurosurgical Associates, PC has been providing state-of-the-art Neurosurgical services to the Richmond Metropolitan area since 1962. Neurosurgical Associates has offices in Hanover, Henrico, and Chesterfield counties covering Richmond metropolitan and Tri-Cities area, Northern Neck and Southside Virginia. 

Dr. Melisi received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency at George Washington University. As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Melisi prevents, diagnoses, evaluates, and treats disorders of the autonomic, peripheral, and central nervous systems. He is trained to treat such disorders as spinal canal stenosis, herniated discs, tumors of the brain and spine, cerebral vascular abnormalities such as aneurysms, spinal and brain injuries, among many others. 

Dr. Melisi is board certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The ABNS conducts examinations of candidates who voluntarily seek certification and to issue certificates to those who meet the requirements of the board and satisfactorily complete its examinations. Certification by the ABNS is based on review and evaluation of an applicant’s education, training, and practice qualifications as well as successful completion of written and oral examinations. 

Dr. Melisi has published a paper entitled Benign and malignant tumors of the brain and spine, malformations of the brain and spine, spinal stenosis, and disc herniations.
