Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Prema Kothandaraman, who serves patients in Arcadia, California.

Devoting her life to taking care of women with a personal touch, Dr. Kothandaraman is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. Her primary area of expertise is urogynecology and the treatment of health conditions associated with it. Combining expertise with compassion, she  serves patients who live in Arcadia, California and many of the surrounding communities. 

At The OB/Gyn and Incontinence Center, she and her staff specialize in the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, abnormal bleeding, menopause, infertility, and pregnancy. Dr. Kothandaraman offers many services as well, including adolescent gynecology, IUDs, and birth control pills. The holistic practice offers services for vaginal health (MonaLisa Touch, TempSure Vitalia) and organic, natural supplements.

After receiving her medical degree from Chengalpattu Medical College in 1986, Dr. Kothandaraman went to Yale University to complete her internship. At Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology, after which she went on to work at many of the most prestigious hospitals and clinics in Florida and California. 

Delivering dedicative healthcare for women of all ages, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Kothandaraman is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the North American Menopause Society, and the American Medical Association. 

In affiliation with Huntington Memorial Hospital and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, she has a conservative surgical philosophy. She often recommends either non-surgical management or minimally invasive surgical treatment for both urogynecologic and gynecologic health problems. Being a mother herself, Dr. Kothandaraman understands the issues and concerns that women normally have. Empathy, sincerity, confidentiality, and dedication to women’s health are the four cornerstones of her approach to patient care.
