Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Frank E. Fumich, who serves patients throughout the State of Ohio.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Fumich works at the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio, having served Lima and the surrounding communities for over 15 years. He specializes in care of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, utilizing traditional and newer minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as conservative non-surgical management to provide patients with individualized care.
His clinical interests include degenerative spinal conditions (including disc herniation), spinal stenosis, and spinal deformities. He also treats patients with spinal trauma, infections, tumors, and scoliosis.
Since 1998, the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio and the Institute for Orthopedic Surgery have been providing excellent care to a growing number of patients. Its state-of-the-art facility includes a Laboratory, MRI, CT, X-Ray, Occupational and Physical Therapy, providing patients with the convenience of making only one stop for their orthopedic care.
Academically, Dr. Fumich earned his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry, cum laude, from West Virginia University. He received his medical degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine, graduating at the top of his class, and completed his internship and residency within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at West Virginia University, where he served as Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery. He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under the direction of Drs. James D. Kang and William F. Donaldson.
A proud member of both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Fumich holds medical privileges at the Mary Rutan Health Center, St. Rita’s Medical Center, Bluffton Hospital, OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital, Joint Town District Memorial Hospital, and Van Wert County Hospital.
