After earning his medical degree from Kalinin State Medical Academy URS (King’s College Exchange), Dr. Amune relocated to the United States. He completed his transitional residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, his residencies in Combined General surgery- Cardiothoracic surgery program, anesthesiology and minimally invasive spine surgery at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota, Vanderbilt University, Riverside Regional Medical Center, and Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his fellowships in pain management, acute pain management, interventional pain management, and cancer pain management - all at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Jacksonville, Florida.

Among the doctor’s many accomplishments, he is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology, whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. He is also board-certified in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine, whose mission is to improve the quality of pain medicine. He has subspecialty certification in pain management by American Board of Anesthesiology. 

To this day, Dr. Amune remains a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Spine Intervention Society, the American Pain Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the American Surgical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiology, the American Association of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Florida Society of Anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery.
