Get to know Urologist Dr. Eric E. Coronato, who serves patients in Florida.

Recognized as a skilled urologist, Dr. Coronato’s areas of special interest are male and female voiding dysfunction, urologic oncology, kidney stone disease, prostate hypertrophy, and urinary incontinence. He is in practice with Gulf Coast Urology – A Division of 21st Century Oncology, seeing patients at the offices in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, Florida. 

Professionally, the doctor is affiliated with multiple hospitals and surgery centers in the area, including Fawcett Hospital, Bayfront Health Park (Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda), and Gulf Pointe Surgery Center. He is currently Chief of the Medical Staff at Fawcett Hospital.

Prior to his current endeavours, he served as an Emergency Department Technician at Lynchburg General Hospital. He also served as an Assistant Editor at Management Concepts, Inc. in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.

In 2004, Dr. Coronato graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the  New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to perform his internship at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in 2005, followed by his residency in urology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia in 2007.

A member of the American Osteopathic Association, he is board-certified in urological surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands. 

Among Dr. Coronato’s various awards and honors include being elected into the Psi Sigma Alpha National Osteopathic Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Moreover, he was named Student of the Year at Lynchburg College while completing his undergraduate studies there.
