A member of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association, Dr. Katy enjoys a wide variety of dental procedures from pediatric stainless steel crowns and pulpotomies to root canals, crowns, dentures, bridges, and even wisdom teeth extractions of moderate complexity. She is also experienced in administering minimal oral sedation and nitrous oxide for anxiety control. Previously, she worked for 6 years at a mostly pediatric practice but also treated adults.
Born in Cuba, she acquired her dental degree from the Dental Faculty of the Highest Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba in 2000. After moving to the United States in 2006, Dr. Katy went on to complete an International Student Program at the Colorado School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2012.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. General dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. When not in the office, Dr. Katy enjoys playing volleyball, riding bicycles, barbecuing, swimming, dancing, and singing karaoke. She is passionate about community work and has worked as a volunteer doing dental presentations for children in some public schools.
