An experienced ophthalmologist, Dr. Thompson is affiliated with Medical Eye Services, and serves as the Ophthalmology Residency Program Director and Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. Her practice focus areas include adult strabismus surgery, eye muscle surgery, amblyopia management, and diabetes.
Medical Eye Services, founded in 1973, is Lake County’s leading practice dedicated to excellence in medical and surgical eye care. They specialize in the treatment of pediatric, corneal, uveitis, glaucoma, cataract and retinal eye problems, as well as providing routine eye exams to insure continued maintenance of good vision.
As the flagship of Cook County Health, John H. Stroger Hospital remains at the forefront of new therapies and innovations in healthcare. Educated in the United States, Dr. Thompson earned her medical degree at the Rush University Medical College in 2000. Wanting to further her education, she completed her internship at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in 2001, and her residency in ophthalmology at the John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in 2004. Finally, she completed her fellowship in strabismus at the Wright Center in 2005.
As a testament to her success, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
