Get to know Family Physician Dr. Carlos Gutierrez, who serves patients in Katy, Texas.

Dr. Guttierez is a board-certified family physician affiliated with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, seeing patients at their West Grand Parkway Clinic in Katy, Texas. His clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.

The West Grand Parkway Clinic offers comprehensive care for children and adults, with specialists in cardiology, dermatology, family medicine, gastroenterology, internal medicine, orthopedics – sports medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, physical medicine and rehabilitation/spine, plastic surgery, and pulmonary medicine/sleep medicine.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Gutierrez earned his medical degree in 1997 at Universidad Catolica Santiago de Guayaquil in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He completed his residency training in family medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2011.

A proud member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gutierrez has held several medical positions, including most recently as a primary care physician at Clinicas Mi Doctor from 2011 to 2016, and at the 1960 Family Practice from 2016 to 2019.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Among his various awards and honors, Dr. Gutierrez has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).

On a more personal note, Dr. Gutierrez enjoys playing soccer, collecting soccer jerseys, eating candy and going to movies. The most interesting place he has visited is Jamaica. When he was a kid, he dreamed of being a soccer player on his Ecuadorian soccer team, Emelec.
