Get to know Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Dario D. Altamirano, who serves patients in Florida.

Specializing in emergency medicine and family medicine, Dr. Altamirano believes that a thorough understanding of his patients is ultimately what leads to the restoration of their health. With over two decades of experience in his field, he is affiliated with Damar Medical Center & Plantation General Hospital in Florida. 

Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996, Dr. Altamirano decided to further his training. He performed his residency at St. Barnabas Hospital.

In order to stay up to date in his field, the doctor remains a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician is a physician who works at an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients. They care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.
