Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Hadi Daia, who serves patients in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Only one in three orthodontists in the United States is board-certified, and Dr. Daia is one of them. He is also one of the few specialists in Michigan who treats orofacial discomfort and TMJ issues, a professional educator, and advocate for medical advances and technology.

Internationally acclaimed, Dr. Daia is the Owner of Daia Orthodontics & TMJ Orthopedics, operating out of Rochester Hills, Michigan. He provides prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of orofacial pain disorders so that his patients can live a pain-free, healthy life.

His state-of-the-art facility is equipped with cutting-edge modern imaging technology, allowing Dr. Daia to comprehensively view the teeth’s orientation with the jaws and surrounding facial structures in 3D. This digital imaging provides vital information and guides personalized treatment plans to ensure that each patient gets the beautiful, pain-free functional smile of their dreams.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Daia completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Faculty of Dentistry – Damascus University in 2005. After practicing general dentistry, he noticed an information gap in the field; very few clinicians comprehensively understood the neuromuscular components of the teeth, jaws, head, and neck.

To expand his knowledge, Dr. Daia joined University at Buffalo’s residency focusing on Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) and orofacial pain studies with a concentration in headaches and migraines, earning a Master of Oral Sciences degree in 2010.

Interested in advanced technology, Dr. Daia saw the excellent results it could have to benefit TMD and orofacial pain. Upon being inspired, he published a book titled Low Level Laser Therapy for Management of Temporomandibular Disorders (2011). This extensive project inspired Dr. Daia in his pursuit to maintain a healthy, functional musculoskeletal system while perfecting the smile.

He then completed another residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Buffalo in 2014. Shortly after, Dr. Daia was granted diplomate status with both the American Board of Orthodontics and the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, in the specialty of orthodontics. He is one of the few doctors worldwide to attain this level of commitment, expertise, knowledge, and excellence in the field.

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists are responsible for identifying problems with the positioning of a patient’s teeth and with their oral development. They utilize the most advanced procedures and equipment available to ensure that every patient achieves a healthy and beautiful smile.

After expanding his repertoire to find new treatment modalities for orthognathic surgery, sleep medicine, and rare conditions like burning mouth syndrome (BMS), Dr. Daia remains committed to serving his patients and the community at large.

Professionally, he served in several non-profit organizations, including the Edmonton Regional Search & Rescue Association in Alberta, Canada; the Niagara Frontier Search & Rescue Team in upstate New York; and H.E.A.L. International in Buffalo, New York.

On the Board of Executive Directors for the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit and the Syrian American Rescue Network, Dr. Daia serves immigrants and refugees in the Metro Detroit area.

A 2023 Diamond+ Top 1% Invisalign Provider, he was named Top Dentist for 2022 and 2023 by HOUR Magazine.

When he isn’t transforming smiles, Dr. Daia enjoys spending time with his children, hiking, and traveling the world to explore its many people, cultures, and beautiful landscapes.
