Get to know Radiation Oncologist Dr. Kirk Kanady, who serves patients in Texas.

Board-certified in therapeutic radiation oncology, Dr. Kanady has extensive experience with the latest techniques for treating cancer, with a particular emphasis on prostate cancer. He is the Founder & Medical Director of Greater Houston Radiation Oncology.

A private practice specializing in radiation oncology, Greater Houston Radiation Oncology delivers personalized cancer therapy for the Houston-Metro and Huntsville area. The practice has three locations: Houston Northwest Cancer Center in Houston, Texas; Precision Radiotherapy Center in Houston, Texas; and the Sam Houston Cancer Center in Huntsville, Texas.

With a respected history of delivering comprehensive and multidisciplinary patient care, the providers of Greater Houston Radiation Oncology are board-certified in radiation oncology. They specialize in treating prostate, breast, lung, head and neck, colorectal, testicular, gastrointestinal, skin, brain, cervical, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers. They use proven, state-of-the-art technologies to treat malignant tumors while minimizing radiation exposure to healthy tissue. Back in 1992, Dr. Kanady graduated with his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard University, where he also served as a clinical fellow in radiation oncology. 

With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Kanady is a highly experienced practitioner who has performed over three thousand prostate seed implants (brachytherapy). He is certified for SpaceOAR™ hydrogel application, which improves sexual function and reduces rectal toxicity from prostate radiation. He is also an expert in other modalities of radiation therapy, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image guidance radiotherapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery including stereotactic ablative radiation for prostate cancer. 

Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, he is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, Kindred Hospital-Houston Northwest, TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital, HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe, HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, Huntsville Memorial Hospital, HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, and Bayshore Medical Center.
