Dr. Jill Flaxman graduated from UAMS Medical School in 1999. She then went on to anesthesiology residency, during which she received the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) Award and was appointed Chief Resident. She has worked for nearly 20 years as a Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician, where she played a crucial role in the evolution of the Anesthesia Department’s role as a nationally recognized leader in CHI Cardiovascular Anesthesia Services. She has served in several leadership positions both for CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, and for her anesthesia group, including CHI St. Vincent Chief of Staff, Chief of Anesthesiology, Medical Director of Quality, and on the CHI St. Vincent Medical Executive Committee. During the time she served as Medical Director of Quality, she led hospital-wide improvements in patient outcomes. She has served an extended term as CEO for her anesthesia group, and served on its Executive Committee. She currently serves as CHI St. Vincent Medical Director of Perioperative Services, and is on the CHI St. Vincent Board of Directors.
Serving in various leadership positions for her anesthesia group and for CHI St. Vincent, she knows that collaboration amongst specialties and instituting best care practices dramatically improves patient care and outcomes. She has been a driving force in successfully changing medical care models, and she aims to improve pain management in Arkansas by using her Whole Person Pain Care model.

Prior to her current position, she dedicated 17 years as a cardiovascular anesthesiologist with Southern Regional Anesthesiology Consultants (SRAC) and notably held an extended tenure as the CEO for SRAC.

Board certified in anesthesiology, Dr. Flaxman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of OR anesthesiology and interventional/medical pain management.

In addition to her anesthesiology certification, Dr. Flaxman is certified in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) by the National Board of Echocardiography, highlighting her expertise in this specialized area.
