Dr. Hamaty Jr. is a fellowship-trained critical care pulmonologist with over four decades of experience. He serves as Chairman of Critical Care & Medical Director of Neuro Critical Care at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus.

Located in New Jersey, the services offered at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus include: Ambulatory Care, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Emergency Department, Imaging, Inpatient Care, Level II Trauma Center, Pharmacy, and Regional Psychiatric Crisis Center.

Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1982, Dr. Hamaty Jr. went on to perform his internship and residency in internal medicine at Doctors Hospital in 1983 and 1985, respectively. This was followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary critical care at Metropolitan Hospital/ Central Division in 1986 and 1988, respectively. 

Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

Established in his field, Dr. Hamaty Jr. is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FACCP) and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI). He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Pulmonary critical care is a specialized field of emergency medicine that treats patients suffering from injuries and diseases of the respiratory, or pulmonary, system, which includes the lungs, trachea, diaphragm and related structures. Critical care pulmonologists are trained to stabilize patients suffering from pulmonary conditions that are affecting the ability to breathe. These physicians are also consulted when other disorders have the potential to severely impact the functions of a patient’s pulmonary system.
