Dr. Hasan is physical medicine & rehabilitation specialist who is currently serving patients at Capital District Interventional Spine & Rehabilitation in Albany, New York. Founded by Dr. Hasan, Capital District Interventional Spine & Rehabilitation provides evidence-based comprehensive care to patients with spine related sub-acute and chronic pain. As spinal pain continues to be a significant public health concern, Dr. Hasan and his staff serve their patients with compassionate care by valuing the patient-physician relationship.

Dr. Hasan received his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical University in Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 1986. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency at Washington University. He also completed additional residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Buffalo, where he served as chief resident and received the Best Resident Research Award. Thereafter, he went on to complete his fellowship in interventional spine at the University of Pennsylvania.

During his fellowship training, Dr. Hasan worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He also worked as an interventional physiatrist at a multi-specialty private group in New Hartford, New York.

Dr. Hasan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR)

Dr. Hasan is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, like Dr. Hasan, treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

Through experiences during his fellowship and subsequent work in academic settings, Dr. Hasan has acquired competence in interventional procedures and techniques consistent with the guidelines of the International Spine Intervention Society. These procedures and techniques include: lumbar and cervical transformational injections, facet blocks, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency rhizotomy, provocative discogram, sacroiliac joint blocks, piriformis blocks, and spinal cord stimulators. Any procedure requiring more than minimal sedation is performed by Dr. Hasan in the interventional radiology suite at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Due to his compassionate care and high patient satisfaction, Dr. Hasan was included in the directory of Top Doctors of America by the Consumer Research Council in 2009.
