Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Jalil Anwar, who serves patients in Huntington, New York.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, Dr. Anwar is a primary care physician and a skilled pulmonologist. He has maintained a private practice (in affiliation with The Huntington Heart Center) and is currently the Director of the Sleep Medicine Lab at The Huntington Heart Center.

He offers many other services in his private practice such as pulmonary function testing, chest X-ray, in lab and at home sleep studies, and primary care services. He also serves as the Chief of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at Huntington Hospital.

Back in 1986, Dr. Anwar graduated with his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical University in Pakistan. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowships in critical care medicine and pulmonary disease at Maimonides Medical Center in New York.

A current member of the Royal College of Physicians, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.

Named one of the top doctors in the county due to his care and work ethic, Dr. Anwar was recognized by the Consumers’ Research Council of America as America’s Top Physicians for the past 5 years. He also received the Patients’ Choice Award in 2018.

Happily married, he and his wife reside in Greenlawn, New York with their three children.
