Get to know Internal Medicine Physician Dr. Catherine M. Wood, who serves the population of Illinois. Dr. Wood graduated with her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois in 1999. Furthering her education she then completed her Medical Degree from Rush University Medical College in 2004, giving her over a decades worth of experience in her field. After obtaining her Medical Degree Dr. Wood completed her internal medicine internship and residency with the Lutheran General Hospital. She is dual certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Certified and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Group Management Association, she is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Wood currently practices with the Northwest Community Hospital Medical Group, where she holds several leadership roles and is greatly involved in ensuring the quality of the hospital. Internal Medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Internists are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. Internists care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching and research.
