Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Baharak Fooladi, who serves patients in Park Slope, New York.

“What I love about my profession is the opportunity to meet and work with patients of very diverse backgrounds. I have learned about different cultures, religions, and unique experiences from each and every one of my patients. The ability to learn from such a large group of people has shaped me into the person that I am today. I have, in turn, been able to transform their lives by creating beautiful smiles. I believe the self-confidence that patients gain as they smile paves the path for their future success” as stated by Dr. Fooladi.

Dr. Fooladi is currently serving patients’ dental needs at her private dental practice – Smiles 4 Life Orthodontics – in Park Slope, New York. At Smiles 4 Life orthodontics, they strongly believe that since each and every individual is different, the success of any treatment is contingent upon a customized treatment that addresses the goals and needs of that patient. A standard cookie-cutter approach for every patient often leads to patient frustration and suboptimal results. They pride themselves in being able to offer a multitude of options and working together with patients to choose the right treatment for them.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in neurobiology at the University of California-Berkeley and her post-baccalaureate degree in clinical physiology at Georgetown University, Dr. Fooladi went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where she graduated summa cum laude. Thereafter, she completed her orthodontic training at Tufts University, where she was the only resident to receive the Furman Scholarship for clinical and academic excellence.

Part of her success has been due to her tremendous passion to continuously learn. She attends annual meetings and continuing education courses taught by leaders in dentistry and orthodontics to constantly keep her education updated. It is her goal to provide patients with the most cutting-edge technology. Through continuing education, she has been able to offer diversified options for a wide variety of orthodontic needs, minimizing treatment times and maximizing results.

A natural-born leader, Dr. Fooladi has attained recognition for her amazing trend-setting clinical and management methods at the annual American Association of Orthodontists meeting. She also remains a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society, the North Eastern Society of Orthodontics, and the American Association of International Research.

Committed to giving back to the community, she works to help all those who cannot help themselves. She has made this dream come true via teaching and providing free orthodontic care to many underprivileged children in her community. Additionally, she has had the privilege of lecturing other orthodontists on unique treatment methods for patients with large overjet or overbites.

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. As an orthodontist, Dr. Fooladi is responsible for locating problems with the positioning of patients’ teeth and with their oral development. She utilizes the most advanced procedures and equipment available to ensure that every patient achieves a healthy and beautiful smile.

In addition to creating beautiful smiles, one of Dr. Fooladi’s favorite things to do is to travel with her husband, Behrooz, her daughter, Sufi, and her son, Arya. They love sightseeing and exploring new cultures.
