Dr Urencio is a Cardiac surgeon with interest in Aortic and complex heart surgery. A native of Mexico City, he graduated form Medical School from the prestigious National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) while being enrolled in its Academic Excellence Program.
He emigrated to the US after finishing Med School to do clinical research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. After 2 successful years in the research side of medicine, he continued at the University of Mississippi where he did his General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Urencio got additional training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in Advance Aortic Surgery. He specializes in all aspects of Cardiac Surgery, with focus on complex procedures and aortic surgery.
He has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts, three book chapters and he is an invited reviewer in a peer-reviewed cardiac surgery journal. He speaks fluently English and Spanish. He and his wife Emilia have three kids, Diego, Pablo and Maria.
