Get to know Dr. Azhar Yunus, who serves patients in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Dr. Yunus is a triple board certified Physician specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Yunus sees patients from ages 4 to 12 at Cornerstone Counseling Services in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He addresses wide-ranging issues such as anxiety and mood disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity and  autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Yunus completed his residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics in Madison. There, he was awarded an Outstanding Psychiatry Resident Award from the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He also completed a Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Dr. Yunus is board-certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. 

Dr. Yunus serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is also on staff at Rogers Behavioral Health – West Allis serving as the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental health disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

Included in his various achievements, Dr. Yunus has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Patients’ Choice Award (2014-2020).
