Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Diego Patricio Andrade, who serves patients in Fort Myers, Florida.

Dr. Andrade is a well-versed anesthesiologist who manages patient pain levels before, during, and after surgical procedures. He is the Vice Chief of Anesthesia at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

HealthPark Medical Center – a 460-bed facility on Bass Road – provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, from cardiology (heart health) and OB/GYN (women’s health), to rehab and radiology. It also includes a full-service emergency care center (ER), open 24/7. 

Serving the community with a modern approach to health and wellness, Dr. Andrade is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in his local area, including Cape Coral Hospital and Lee Memorial Hospital.

Licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Illinois, he is board-certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.

Following the completion of his medical degree from the Central University of Ecuador, College of Medicine in 1994, Dr. Andrade relocated to the United States. Once there, he served his residency in anesthesiology at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, the Lee County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, anesthesiologists also measure the patient’s respiration.
