By age nine, Nigerian-born Dr. Famuyiwa, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist, knew that she wanted to be a physician. Today, she is the Founder of the Montgomery Fertility Center in Rockville, Maryland. 

Montgomery Fertility Center is dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized reproductive and fertility health care for patients. Utilizing the latest advances in medicine combined with state-of-the-art techniques, the goal is to treat patients with comfort and compassion. Some of the general and specialized services provided at the practice include reproductive endocrinology, egg donation, surrogacy, embryo cryopreservation, infertility evaluation, hysteroscopy, and more. 

With a love for people and the field of medicine, patients from all over the world come to see Dr. Famuyiwa. Being a sole practitioner gives her the flexibility to spend as much time as she needs with them and to get to know them well. It also allows her to balance her professional and personal life.

Prior to founding Montgomery Fertility Center, she was an Adjunct Scientist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The National Institute of Health in Bethesda from 1998 to 2000. She was also a staff obstetrician and gynecologist at Columbia Hospital for Women’s Medical Center in Washington, D.C from 1993 to 2002, as well as a Chief Surgical Extern at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and a Medical Evaluator for the Maternal and Infant Care Project at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta from 1988 to 1989. 

Among her professional background, Dr. Famuyiwa is an Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University School of Medicine and an attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Throughout her academic career, she received her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 1989. She did her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. from 1989 to 1993. She held a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at The National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland from 1993 to 1995. She also holds a degree in Biological Sciences from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

A Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & reproductive endocrinology and infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.

In her line of work, Dr. Famuyiwa has lectured at numerous medical conferences, participated in research affecting women’s health, as well as has written for books, medical journals, and periodicals. Some of the honors that she has received include being cited in the Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans in 1992 and winning the Women in Endocrinology Travel Award during the 10th International Congress of Endocrinology in 1996. 

Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. Reproductive endocrinologists are the only doctors trained in providing fertility treatments using assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and egg freezing. They are also trained in obstetrics and gynecology, and then have additional training to provide fertility treatment.

In her personal life, Dr. Famuyiwa lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband and three young children. They enjoy hiking and being in nature.
