Get to know Radiation Oncologist Dr. William Butler Bradford, who serves patients in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

A highly-skilled radiation oncologist, Dr. Bradford leads the team at Cumberland Radiation Associates. He specializes in the utilization of radiation therapy to treat patients who suffer from diseases like cancer and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Since 2000, the team at Cumberland Radiation has provided thousands of individuals and their families comfort and helped them defeat the challenge of cancer in the Southern Middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama area, eliminating the need for long commutes. Their goals are to help both patients and their families understand the facts about cancer and provide compassionate care with state-of-the-art technology. They strive to replace the fear associated with the word “cancer” with understanding, acceptance, and hope.

Originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Dr. Bradford earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1990. He then completed his residency in oncology at James Graham Brown Cancer Center, also in Louisville. 

Investing in the most advanced technology, the doctor is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The mission of the ABR is to serve patients, the public, and the medical profession by certifying that its diplomates have acquired, demonstrated, and maintained a requisite standard of knowledge, skill, and understanding essential to the safe and competent practice of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Having been serving the southern, middle Tennessee area well over three decades, Dr. Bradford is affiliated with Saint Thomas River Park Hospital, Harton Regional Medical Center, Southern Tennessee Medical Center, and Shelbyville Hospital Corporation.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties – the other two being surgical and medical oncology – involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Bradford has been the recipient of various awards and honors, including Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018) and On-Time Doctor Award (2014).
