Years later, in 2004, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Damascus University, after which he moved to the United States where he completed an additional residency at Detroit Medical Center. He also pursued a fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center, where he served as a Pulmonary Critical Care Chief Fellow from 2014 until 2015.
