Get to know Internist Dr. Jorge Ontiveros, who serves patients in Texas.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Ontiveros is a board-certified internist with Cartwright Primary Care Clinic in Mesquite, Texas. 

He became a doctor because his father was ill when he was a child, so he decided he wanted to help people. He chose primary care because after working in a hospital for 20 years, he wanted a way to build relationships with his patients. 

Graduating with his medical degree from the The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Dr. Ontiveros went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at the said establishment. 

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In his local area, Dr. Ontiveros is affiliated with Dallas Regional Medical Center, City Hospital at White Rock, Hunt Regional Medical Center, and Methodist Hospital for Surgery.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. His favorite place to vacation is in Cancun, Mexico; his favorite professional publication is The New England Journal of Medicine; his favorite food is Indian Cuisine; his favorite color is black; and his favorite animal is the honey badger. 

If he could buy anything, he would buy a 1976 blue Mako Shark Corvette. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would choose Fiji. An interesting thing about Dr. Ontiveros is that he has 22 aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
