Get to know Hematologist Oncologist Dr. Anita Koszyk-Szewczyk, who serves the population of Arizona. Dr. Koszyk-Szewczyk completed her Hematology and Oncology training when she attended Penn State University Hershey Medical Center. Furthering her education, Dr. Koszyk-Szewczyk graduated with her medical degree from Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum in Krakow, Poland as well as Honours Biology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. While attending Penn State, she served as Chief Fellow. After obtaining her Medical Degree, Dr. Koszyk-Szewczyk completed a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology from Penn State University Hershey Medical Center as well as an internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Pinnacle Health Hospital. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Koszyk-Szewczyk joined the staff at Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers located in Chandler, Arizona in 2009 and is also affliated with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Medical Association. Having been in practice for seventeen years, Dr. Koszyk-Szewczyk has been published in A hematologist-oncologist who is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. They will be trained in hematology, the study of blood and oncology, the study of cancer, but will specialize in treating blood cancers, such as Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins lymphomas, leukemias and multiple myelomas. A hematologist-oncologist may also specialize in the management of solid tumors. Dr. Anita Koszyk-Szewczyk is fluent in English and Polish as well as an understanding of Russian. When she is not in the office seeing patients, she enjoys Apline skiing, mountain climbing, tennis, learning about European history and traveling.
