Get to know Clinical Psychopharmacologist Dr. Serena-Lynn Brown, who serves patients in Connecticut.
Dr. Brown is an internationally recognized physician with more than twenty years of experience as a clinical psychopharmacologist. Since 2013, she has been providing TMS, first as a medical director of Advanced TMS Health Centers Inc. and, since 2018, as Regional Medical Director of Greenbrook TMS Connecticut. She operates out of the offices in Milford and Westport.
A sought-after psychiatric consultant to other physicians, psychiatrists, and mental health practitioners across the country, she provides evaluations and second opinion assessments, as well as ongoing TMS and/or medication treatment for patients throughout the United States and abroad. Over the past several years, she has been actively involved in making TMS available as a major option for her patients with treatment-refractory depression, and in educating the medical community about the impressive efficacy of this new treatment modality.
Pertaining to her academic career, Dr. Brown earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her medical training (internship, residency, and Biological Scientist Training Program Fellowship) at the Yale School of Medicine. Following her training, she spent nearly a decade as Director of the Psychopharmacology Clinic, Department of Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she remains on the clinical faculty.
Currently, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Throughout her line of work, Dr. Brown has published and presented over 100 scientific papers, books, book chapters and grand rounds, and is the co-editor of the textbook “The Role of Serotonin in Psychiatric Disorders”.
Having been included in numerous “Top Doctors” and “Best Doctors” publications, she has received research grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Suicide Foundation, and the National Headache Foundation.
