An experienced internist, Dr. Khouri is an attending physician and Professor of Medicine with the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, Division of Cancer Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Finding joy in getting to know his patients, Dr. Khouri looks forward to developing a satisfying relationship with each of them. One of the reasons he became a physician was to help in the healing process, and he has found that developing a relationship with patients makes helping them through a period of illness much easier.
Prior to his work with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, he was affiliated with Kaiser Permanente in the Bay Area, seeing patients at San Francisco Hospital and South San Francisco Medical Center.
Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Khouri graduated with his medical degree from La Sapienza University of Rome in Italy. After relocating to the United States, he completed his graduate work in medical sciences at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, and went on to complete his transitional residency and residency in internal medicine at North Eastern Ohio University College of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident in his final year. Finally, he completed his fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Holding over three decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Khouri is an active member of the American College of Physicians and the San Mateo County Medical Association.
