When Dr. Robert Handwerger, now retired, established his solo dermatology practice in Annapolis over 40 years ago, he could never have envisioned that he was creating the foundation for what would become one of the premier full-service dermatology practices in the area surrounding Annapolis, Maryland. 

Today, the skilled clinicians and modern clinical offices of  Anne Arundel Dermatology deliver a full suite of cosmetic laser and skin care services and products, as well as dedicated in-house Mohs surgery and pathology laboratory services. The impressive growth and success of the practice is largely based on its unique ability to combine personalized care with state-of-the-art clinical training and expertise.

Both Dr. Farley and Dr. Harrington are board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which certifies physicians in dermatology, dermatopathology, and pediatric dermatology.

Dr. Mary F. Farley

Dr. Farley serves patients at the offices of Anne Arundel Dermatology in Prince Frederick and Annapolis. 

She graduated from the University of Notre Dame, after which she went on to earn her medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. She completed her transitional internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, followed by her residency in dermatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She then went on to complete her fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center. 

A member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the Uniformed Services of Dermatology, Dr. Farley is the author of several publications and has held multiple presentations during regional and national meetings. Since 2005, she has been selected for the “Best Doctors in America” honor, which only 5% of physicians receive.

Dr. Allan C. Harrington

Dr. Harrington serves patients at the offices of Anne Arundel Dermatology in Glen Burnie, Hagerstown, and Annapolis. 

He is a graduate of Harvard College and Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, followed by a two-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at the New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

In addition to being a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery, Dr. Harrington is the author of numerous articles and textbook chapters on skin cancer reconstruction.

In his professional experience, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University. He is also the former Director of Skin Cancer Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
