Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Saroj Pani, who serves patients in Albany, New York.

Dr. Pani provides anesthesia to patients for general and cardiac surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at Albany Medical Center. He evaluates patients before a procedure, consults with a surgical or medical team before and during a procedure, creates a plan for anesthesia tailored to each individual patient, and provides post-operative management of patient needs.

A native of India, Dr. Pani graduated from Ipsat High School, and earned his medical degree from Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College in 1986. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at Maimonides Medical Center in 1998, and his residency in anesthesiology at the Albany Medical Center in 2001.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology and echocardiography by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.

On a more personal note, Dr. Pani is fluent in both English and Hindi.
