Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Omar Torres, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.
Dr. Torres is a board-certified dermatologist, as well as a Mohs and cosmetic surgeon. He is the Medical Director at DermGroup NYC with offices in Gramercy Park, Jackson Heights, and Washington Heights, New York.
As such, he offers a variety of services to meet all patients’ needs, including body (cooltone, age spots, hand rejuvenation, liposculpture, scars, spider veins, and buttock augmentation); face, neck & hair (acne and rosacea, hair loss, laser hair reduction, psoriasis, thread facelift, facial fillers, eyelid surgery, neck rejuvenation, and more); and medical dermatology (HIV lipoatrophy and skin cancer).
A 1999 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Torres relocated to the United States for his training. He completed his residency in dermatology at Columbia University’s St. Luke’s-Roosevelt-Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, where he is currently an Assistant Attending. During an intensive two-year Mohs and cosmetic surgery program accredited by the American Association of Cosmetic Surgery, he performed countless rejuvenating surgical procedures including facelifts, blepharoplasties, liposuctions, and laser treatments.
In affiliation with various professional organizations, he is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatological Surgery, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
A keynote speaker for various national and international dermatological and cosmetic surgery conferences, Dr. Torres teaches Mohs and cosmetic surgery in a Procedural Dermatology Fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He is also a Clinical Professor and the Director of the Eyelid Surgery Clinic within the Department of Dermatology at the University of Puerto Rico & provides pro bono medical care to low-income patients.
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

On a more personal note, he resides in Manhattan. He is an avid art collector and a former collegiate varsity tennis player.
