Throughout her academic career, Dr. Ekambaram graduated with her medical degree from Mysore Medical College & Research Institute in India in 1995, where she was an instructor at the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine. She then relocated to the United States, completing her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago/Advocate Christ Medical Center.
A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
A physician for more than 20 years, Dr. Ekambaram has been involved in several research studies, including presenting at the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy annual meeting in San Diego. She has also served as a volunteer at Shepherd’s Hope, providing medical care to indigent patients, and is Co-Founder of the Muthamizh Sangam of Central Florida Scholarship that provides economic aid to children from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to pursue an education in medicine and engineering.
