Get to know Pediatric Radiologist Dr. Abhay Srinivasan, who serves patients in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Srinivasan, a highly trained pediatric radiologist, is an expert in the diagnosis of illnesses, injuries, and diseases of infants, children, and adolescents, using imaging techniques and equipment. He works within the Department of Radiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

At the said establishment, he is also involved with the Pancreatic Disorders Program, which provides individualized care to children and young adults with pancreatic disease & the Comprehensive Vascular Anomalies Program, which includes state-of-the-art genomics and personalized research strategies to determine the causes of these conditions and identify targeted therapies.

At CHOP Research Institute, Dr. Srinivasan works within the Divisions of Interventional Radiology and Body Imaging. He focuses his research efforts on interventional radiology & cardiovascular and lymphatic imaging. 

Alongside his clinical role, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Graduating with his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in 2002, Dr. Srinivasan went on to perform an internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 2003. Continuing his education, he completed a residency in radiology at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 2007 and a fellowship in pediatric radiology and interventional radiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2008.

Thriving in his field, he is board-certified in pediatric radiology and diagnostic radiology/interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Among his editorial positions, Dr. Srinivasan serves as a reviewer for Journal of Case Reports and Studies (2014-present) & Pediatric Nephrology (2011-present). He is also affiliated with Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital.

Prestigious professional organizations of which he is a member of include the Radiological Society of North America, the Society for Pediatric Interventional Radiology, and the Society for Pediatric Radiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the International Contrast Ultrasound Society, the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Philadelphia Area Interventional Radiology Society, RAD-AID International, the Society of Interventional Oncology, and the Children’s Oncology Group.

Pediatric radiology is a subspecialty of radiology involving the imaging of fetuses, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Utilizing the results from computed tomography scans, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging technology, radiography, nuclear medicine, radiography and fluoroscopy, a pediatric radiologist can monitor and diagnose illnesses and injuries in children. Many pediatric radiologists practice at children’s hospitals.
