Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Manish Singh, who serves patients in Louisiana. 

Having more than 20 years of expertise in his field, Dr. Singh currently practices as a Neurosurgeon with Southern Brain & Spine in Metairie, Louisiana. He is also affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including East Jefferson General Hospital and Tulane Medical Center. 

Southern Brain & Spine’s mission is to offer patients and referrers timely access to quality, comprehensive, cutting edge neurosurgical care, that encompasses brain microsurgery and minimally invasive spine surgery, in a caring, personalized, world-class setting. 

Dr. Singh received his medical degree from Moti Lal Nehru Medical College in Allahabad, India in 1995.  

Upon receiving his medical degree, Dr. Singh completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then went on to complete his fellowship training in Complex Spine Surgery / Adult Spine Deformity at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. From there, he relocated to New Orleans and worked at Tulane Medical Center as an Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Spine Center. 

Dr. Singh is board-certified in Neurological Surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Certification by the ABNS is based on review and evaluation of an applicant’s education, training and practice qualifications as well as successful completion of written and oral examinations. 

He holds professional memberships with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Louisiana Neurosurgical Society. Furthermore, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. 

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders affecting any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons specialize in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system including congenital anomalies, vascular disorders, tumors, stroke, infections of the brain or spine, trauma, or degenerative diseases of the spine. They use neuroradiology imaging like MRI, CT, PET, and MEG to diagnose / treat neurological problems.
