Get to know Internist Dr. Kathleen F. Maurer, who serves patients in Westbrook, Connecticut.

A committed internist, Dr. Maurer is the Director of Health and Addiction Services and Medical Director of the Connecticut Department of Corrections.

Back in 1985, she graduated with her medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in 1988, and her residency in preventive medicine at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in 1991.

Licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut and Texas, the doctor is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Maurer has been the recipient of various honors and accolades, including Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award Honoree (2022), Top Professionals of the Year Inductee by Marquis Who’s Who (2022), Coalition of Correctional Health Authorities National Award for Leadership in Correctional Healthcare, Health Authority Award, and Marie Nyswander Award by the International Association for Pain and Chemical Dependency.
