In his professional experience, he is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, UTMB Clear lake, Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital, Cornerstone Hospital, Kindred Healthcare Clear Lake, and Post Acute care hospital.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Issa graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Jordan in 1995. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship and residency in internal medicine at Scranton-Temple in Pennsylvania. He followed this up with a fellowship in infectious diseases at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Alpert Medical school of Medicine before he moved to Texas in 2008. He also holds an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of medicine at UTMb now.

A Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, he is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the prevention, the diagnosis, and the treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.

In his free time, he enjoys camping, swimming, and exercising his fluency in both Arabic and English.
