Academically, Dr. Spooner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Rochester. He started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He completed his internship and residency in psychiatry at Tulane University, followed by a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. He then went on to complete additional fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry & interventional spine and pain medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and child & adolescent psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Furthermore, he is board-certified through the American Board of Preventive Medicine, the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
