Get to know Internist Dr. Rachelina P. Kvietkus, who serves patients in South Bend, Indiana.

Dr. Kvietkus is a board-certified internist who is currently serving patients at The South Bend Clinic in South Bend, Indiana. The core purpose of The South Bend Clinic is to provide exceptional patient-centered, physician-led, coordinated care to improve the health of patients and the community, as well as to provide equally exceptional career opportunities for team members.

The doctors at the clinic work in a collaborative environment where primary and sub-specialty physicians pair together to deliver a high level of integrated and coordinated patient care. Despite its exponential growth, The South Bend Clinic stays true to the founders purpose of patient-centered, physician-led healthcare.

Ever since she was 4 years old, Dr. Kvietkus dreamed of going to the University of Notre Dame and becoming a doctor—high hopes for the first generation daughter of Italian immigrants who owned a tailor shop. With hard work and determination, plus endless love and support from her family, she participated in numerous activities in high school and graduated Valedictorian of her class at Mishawaka High School. Dr. Kvietkus then went on to study and do research in the Honors Program at the University of Notre Dame, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1989. She then earned her medical degree at the Indiana University Graduate School of Medicine in Indianapolis, prior to completing her residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. 

Dr. Kvietkus is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Dr. Kvietkus is a member of the American Medical Society of Indiana, the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, the Plummer Society of Mayo Clinic, the Indiana University Alumni Association, and the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association. Additionally, Dr. Kvietkus has published papers in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings. She attributes her success to hard work and perseverance. 

Internal medicine or general medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall wellbeing. 

Dr. Kvietkus has 3 beautiful daughters, a rescue dog, and a wonderful feisty Italian mother who lives in the area. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, photography, reading, listening to music, going to sporting events, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
