Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. YongLi Ji, who serves patients in Exeter, New Hampshire. 

Dr. Ji is a hematologist-oncologist specializing in the care and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. She works within The Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital, and can be found on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital has a unique collaboration with specialists from the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center to offer patients the highest level of cancer care in the region. Leading radiation oncologists and medical oncologists/hematologists from Mass General are available to patients at Exeter Hospital, with access to surgical oncology specialty care. They focus on providing comprehensive integrated care through their multidisciplinary clinics for breast, prostate, lung, gastroenterology, and head and neck cancers, which offer personalized evaluations and treatment from a collaborative team of experts.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from Tianjin Medical University in China. After relocating to the United States, she performed her residency at St. Vincent Hospital, and her fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center. She also completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cancer Biology at Brandeis University.

Passionate about her profession, Dr. Ji is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.
