Dr. Reimer is a board-certified neurosurgeon whose special interests and clinical focus includes: radiosurgery, surgical management of facial pain, acupuncture for autonomic dysfunction, brain tumors with image guidance technique, surgical management of pituitary tumors, as well as surgical management of spine disorders such as disk disease, disk herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal fusions, and spinal cord tumors

At present, he practices within the Department of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in Florida, which is a comprehensive medical center and one of three Mayo campuses along with Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, and Rochester, Minnesota. Neurosurgeons at Mayo Clinic are on the leading edge of treating neurological conditions using the latest innovations and techniques in neurosurgery, such as minimally invasive surgery, robotics, intraoperative MRI, computer-assisted brain surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, awake brain surgery, and deep brain stimulation.

The doctor is also involved with the Mayo Clinic Brain Tumor Program, which offers personalized, comprehensive, expert care to people with brain tumors. In addition to his clinical activities, he is active in research and education, providing mentorship to neurosurgical residents and fellows.

A 1980 graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Reimer went on to complete his internship in general surgery at Charity Memorial Hospital. He then completed his residency in neurological surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, followed by his externship in neurological surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident of Trauma Service in 1986. 

To further his professional development, he became board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The primary purposes of the ABNS are to conduct examinations of candidates who voluntarily seek certification and to issue certificates to those who meet the requirements of the board and satisfactorily complete its examinations.

A Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS), Dr. Reimer remains a member of numerous professional affiliations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, the American Association of Medical Acupuncture, the Southern Neurosurgical Society, the Mayo Surgical Society, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville Societies, the Think First Foundation, the Surgical Quality SubCommittee at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Florida, the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association – Facial Pain Association, and the MCF Clinical Ethics Committee, among many others. What’s more, he has been serving as President of Officers & Councilors of Staff at Mayo Clinic Florida Committees since 2017.
