Get to know Dentist Dr. Salvatore M. Pizzino, who serves patients in Southport, Connecticut.

Voted Best of the Gold Coast for Fairfield, Dr. Pizzino has been treating patients’ dental needs in Fairfield County at Southport Family Dental since 1995.

Pertaining to his educational background, Dr. Pizzino is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a chief residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is now a clinical attending physician. In 2007, he co-directed dental implant seminars at NYU and has been an Invisalign Premier Provider since 2009, as well as an Invisalign guest lecturer.

In addition to being a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, he is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Functional Orthodontics and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, serves on the CT State Dental Association Board of Peer Review, and is a former president of the Bridgeport Dental Association.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

In 2013, Dr. Pizzino was awarded Top Dentist in General Dentistry in the Best of the Connecticut Gold Coast awards. These awards highlight the top dentists in Fairfield County, all recommended by peers in the field who know their work best. Dr. Pizzino was recommended in the General Dentistry category for his ability to help people in every discipline in dentistry, from checkups to tooth pain, emergencies, and more.

In addition to English, he speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.
