Get to know Dentist Dr. Steven M. Parrett, who serves patients in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Parrett, the esteemed Owner of Cumberland Valley Dental Care, stands as a beacon of dedication, achievement, and leadership in the field of dentistry, a recognition duly acknowledged by Marquis Who's Who Top Doctors. 

Back in the early days of his academic career he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. His academic journey culminated in 1976 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus. Armed with a solid education, he commenced his professional endeavors with private practice in Chambersburg from 1978 to 1987, leaving an indelible mark of superior patient care.

In the late 1970s, Dr. Parrett served as the head of the department of dentistry at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute in Ohio. Over the years, he has remained at the forefront of advancements in dentistry through extensive continuing education, earning fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry.

Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Parrett is a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Cumberland Valley Dental Society (where he served as president), the American Academy of the History of Dentistry, and the International Dental Health Foundation.

As for his academic appointment, the doctor has shared his knowledge in various capacities. As the vice chairman of the Library and Education Committee with Chambersburg Hospital Medical Staff since 1998, he has played a crucial role in fostering a culture of learning. From 2006 to 2012, he contributed to the Dean's Faculty of the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.

Rooted in personal inspiration from his childhood dentist and a doctor who treated him during bouts of pneumonia, Dr. Parrett remains devoted to setting a positive example for his patients. Looking ahead, he aspires to expand his role in teaching, mentoring, and speaking at conferences, particularly in introducing Silver Diamine Fluoride.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
