  • Can a chiropractor fix costochondritis?

    Costochondritis is usually due to a trauma to the rib cage, but can be cause by many things, such as an infection. Blunt trauma or just plain over-use are common causes. If a rib is out of place, this can also create inflammation in the region. If that is the case, then the rib needs to be put back into place, so the costal cartilage can move correctly and not be irritated every time you take a breath. There is no lotion, potion, pill, shot, cut, stretch, or exercise that puts the bones back into place. This is what chiropractic is for. So, to answer the question, yes, if a rib is out of place.     Hello, Your father should be examined to determine if he has a problem that chiropractic would be able to help. This is called an orthopedic neurological examination. He will have ranges of motion examined. Exams such as these will determine a course of action or referral from your chiropractor. Certainly I see a lot of back pain patients, most but not all see relief from chiropractic adjustments. Your father will have to have some examinations to see if chiropractic care would be appropriate. I use a range of techniques from low force chiropractic adjustments to acupuncture and decompression.
