It is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.  

Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty, and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units. As a neonatologist, Dr. Hornick diagnoses and treats newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects. She also coordinates care and medically manages newborns born premature, critically ill, or in need of surgery.

Perinatal medicine is a subspecialty of obstetrics concerned with care of the mother and fetus during pregnancy, labor, and delivery – particularly when the risk of complications is high. As a perinatal specialist, Dr. Hornick acts both as a consultant during lower-risk pregnancies and as the primary obstetrician in especially high-risk pregnancies.
