Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Pinson graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the Mississippi College in 1984, and earned his medical degree from the MCP-Hahnemann College of Medicine in 1994. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1998. Later, he completed his Master of Business Administration degree at Aspen University in 2005.

A Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
