A board-certified internist, Dr. Sanai has been practicing medicine for over 27 years in Maryland, and most recently serving patients from the greater Washington D.C. area. As an Internist, Dr. Sanai specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. He is focused on providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being. Internal medicine is more than just a specialty for Dr. Sanai, it is his passion. He is devoted to helping his patients achieve a healthier life.
Dr. Sanai is currently with Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) in Rockville, Maryland. Starting on April 1st, 2022, Dr. Sanai will unveil his new concierge medicine practice at Washington Medical Concierge Group in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Concierge medicine is a new approach to primary care, enabling doctors to dedicate more time to each patient. While it is a relatively new practice model, it is core to Dr. Sanai’s long-standing philosophy of care, always ensuring that he can spend whatever time is needed to get to know and care for his patients. Since the beginning of his career, Dr. Sanai has always believed in a personalized and holistic care model for his patients.
Academically, Dr. Sanai graduated with his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 1988. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Franklin Square Hospital Center in 1993, where he was also a Chief Resident, and later accepted a part-time faculty position for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, a position he held for nearly two decades, while also serving patients in his private practice.
Dr. Sanai attained board certification in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Among his various accolades, Dr. Sanai has been the recipient of many awards, including Bethesda Top Doctors (2021), Top Internists (2021), The Patients’ Choice Award (2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2013, 2012, 2011, 2010).
On a more personal note, he is happily married and has 3 children. In his free time, he likes to exercise and play tennis.
