After receiving his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Horan earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Both his internship and residency were completed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Before entering into private practice, Dr. Horan served 10 years on active duty in the US Army as an orthopedic surgeon. He also served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Town ‘n Country Hospital, and as the team physician for the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Currently, he performs surgeries at AdventHealth Carrollwood and Westchase Surgery Center.

Furthemore, he maintains professional memberships with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
