How long does it take to get a crown?
If the damage to your tooth doesn't require root canal therapy (damage hasn't reached your nerve), in certain offices that have intraoral scanners and the milling machine, it would take 2 hours to manufacture a beautiful all porcelain custom made crown. But typically, in 85% of dental offices, it would take 2 appointments because they have a dental laboratory manufacture it over 2 weeks off the premise. READ MORE

What foods should I avoid after a tooth extraction?
Depending on the type of extraction, sutures, grafting, etc. it is very hard to answer that question. YOUR doctor/surgeon who is performing your extraction should answer that question or give you guidelines. I usually tell my patients soft diet, nothing with small hard parts, and nothing too hot (including spicy) or extremely cold. Good luck READ MORE
What could be the cause of my dry mouth?
There could be a variety of medical reasons. Medications, mouth-breathing, drug/alcohol use, allergies, air quality in your house, your daily water intake, etc etc. You need an examination by your doctor and a dentist to find the possible reasons or diagnosis. READ MORE
Do you have to be put to sleep for wisdom tooth extraction?
That depends on the severity of your case. If your tooth is impacted and into jaw bone, it will require surgery and you better off being knocked out. If you do not want to be knocked out, then you have to find a different surgeon. READ MORE
Can you eat normally with a dental bridge?
Yes, but with a little bit more investment, you can get something better than a bridge. It is called the dental implant which in the long run will save you a lot more money. Typically, people don’t take care of their bridges and it gets decayed and then the next bridge will be much bigger and more expensive. So in essence, you have taken “one tooth” problem and expanded it over five teeth in your lifetime. Replace missing teeth with dental implants if possible. And yes, you can eat with both normally. Anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers. But that’s only for temporary relief. You need to investigate as to the real reason of TMJ issues because that could last a life time. READ MORE
Can wisdom teeth cause canker sores?
I have never heard such a thing. More likely you have an ulcer or an infection because of the wisdom tooth. READ MORE
How often should crowns be replaced?
Depends on your hygiene, your diet, how often you see a dentist, para functional habits, genetics, etc. Everybody’s different. Typically, a crown should last 5 to 15 years. I have seen some last as much as 30 years. READ MORE

Will I need antibiotics for a tooth extraction?
No, not for 95% of cases! You only need antibiotics if you have a massive infection, which can then interfere with the local anesthesia and you not having a painless procedure. Routinely though, I don't give antibiotics before or after extractions. SM READ MORE
